From her time on the City Council to her current role as Mayor, Abbey has worked to move Waverly forward. Here are a few highlights of what’s been accomplished along the way:
- Record and post all City Council meetings to the City of Waverly’s YouTube channel
- Develop and publish a monthly newsletter to keep residents informed
- Write and publish a monthly column for the Voice News
- Hired the City of Waverly’s first Economic Development Coordinator
- Formed and incorporated the City of Waverly’s first 501(c)(6) for economic development—Waverly Economic Development Corporation
- Streamlined pool access and swim lesson enrollment through online services
- Began hosting quarterly strategic planning sessions focused on long-term growth and alignment
- Updating City of Waverly’s website to be more user-friendly, including an integrated mobile app for our citizens. City of Waverly
- Played a crucial role in converting the previous Community Development Agency (CDA) into a Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) to enhance transparency in evaluating TIF projects. Community Redevelopment Authority
- Actively advocated for the investment of Waverly’s cash reserves in interest-earning money market accounts, CDs, and other investment options to maximize funds allocated for future large capital and maintenance projects.
