Abbey Pascoe elected mayor of Waverly

WAVERLY, Neb. (KOLN) – City Council President Abbey Pascoe has been elected as Waverly’s new mayor, succeeding Mayor Bill Gerdes, who did not seek reelection.

Pascoe, who ran unopposed, currently represents Ward 2 on the city council and serves as the public health liaison for fire and safety. She expressed gratitude for the community’s support and outlined her vision for the city’s future.

“I am deeply honored by the confidence the people of Waverly have placed in me,” said Pascoe. “I look forward to serving each and every resident with transparency, candor, and a steadfast commitment to collaboration. Together, we can build a community that is safe, thriving, and full of opportunity.”

As mayor, Pascoe’s priorities include fostering economic growth to support local families and making public safety a top focus. She said she plans to engage with residents and collaborate with local organizations to implement initiatives aimed at economic development while preserving Waverly’s unique character.

“We will work tirelessly to make sure that every voice is heard and every perspective valued as we grow together,” Pascoe continued. “Waverly is a city that thrives on candor and collaboration and gives everyone a chance to be involved.”

Pascoe will appoint someone to serve the remaining two years on the council.
